Web Site Zapper – Block Access to Certain Sites
Review by on
We’ve covered several applications that are meant to restrict or block users from doing various tasks on Windows. We’ve covered Clock Guard, an application that prevents the user from changing the PC’s clock. We’ve covered Software Time Lock, an application that restricts computer usage during specific intervals of time. And we’ve covered Internet Password Lock, an application that can partially or completely block access to the internet.

We now shift focus on another Leithauser Research-developed application, one that is somewhat similar to Internet Password Lock. The application I would like to focus on is called Web Site Zapper. It gives the Windows user control over what webpages can be viewed on the PC.

For example if you have a child, you can use Web Site Zapper to keep the child from accessing inappropriate sites. Web Site Zapper will redirect the child away from the inappropriate sites and can even close down the browser. You can manually add the sites you want to block, or you can let Web Site Zapper add sites to the ban list automatically.

Once you’re done with the list of websites, you can use Web Site Zapper in two modes:
- Block Mode: it will close down any site on the bad site list.
- Allow Mode: it will close down any site that is not on the good site list.

Below are the technical details you need to know about Web Site Zapper before you download the application:
Download – the download weighs in at less than 1MB. This means that getting Web Site Zapper off the web and onto your computer will only take a moment. To my mind, not having to wait a long time for a download to complete is always nice.
Installation - Web Site Zapper can be installed on any version of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system. This includes the old but popular Windows XP, the much avoided Windows Vista, and the latest and greatest, Windows 7.
Limitations – you can use Web Site Zapper free of charge only during a trial period of 30 days.

Pros
  • Lightweight download size
  • Block access to inappropriate sites
  • Works with Windows 7

Cons
  • Free to try
